Lead like its Today

Are you embracing your uniqueness? You are creatively and wonderfully made with a purpose in mind. How often do you loose site of that fact? Do you embrace who you are now? Or are you trying to take on a mythical persona of who you or other people in your life think you need to be?
My wife has been watching numerous recorded episodes of the TLC program What Not to Wear. As I spend quality time with my wife watching these episodes, a theme continued to resound: Dress for the size you are now – not the size you think you ought to be. How often are we guilty of just that, I need to loose (fill in the blank) pounds, I will eventually get back to a waist size that is 3 inches smaller or a dress size 4 times smaller (funny it rarely works in the other direction!). Before we know it our clothes don’t fit and we begin to dress in over sized clothes to somehow cloak the size we are.
How is this same scenario played out in our personal lives? We keep thinking that somehow we will magically and overnight become this person or leader that doesn’t exist. Yes we should have goals for improvement – improvement that is mainly built upon the natural strengths. No one has ever made true life changing transformation by dwelling on perceived weaknesses.
Live, act and lead as the person you are now – today.
