Involvement: 1-1 Reading Support Partner

The term accountability partner has been around for a long time and it is used and misused in many ways. To the point that it is feared by many. The traditional idea has been that we have a person who will “speak truth” to us in every area of our lives. It’s finding the right super mentor – who is wise, smart, non judgmental, compassionate, exhorting, encouraging, empathetic, intuitive, always quick with a wise word, has most of the bible memorized, has copious amounts of time to devote to your needs and of course has to be able to correct you at any time on any subject – that is the hard part.

Needless to say, I have never found a super mentor; yet I 100% believe in 1-1 discipleship relationships. It has not been easy finding men willing to meet weekly to discuss how we are doing in our daily journey with Christ. But it is worth the effort and it is magical how God puts the people in your life at any given time that have the unique skill set you need for that season. These candid discussions are primarily a support function with accountability through honesty and transparency.

I challenge you to find someone in you life, of the same gender, to support one another specifically in the area of bible reading. This may evolve into something more, but it does not have to – just start and see where God leads.

These are the musings of a disciple of Christ simply trying to make sense of life by intentionally communicating with God. The intent is to give you points to ponder in 250 words or less, not closed ended teachings. React, interact and communicate with me and others as we live life intentionally and appreciate how God made each of us unique.
